The Galápagos choice is really a size choice. Silversea's Silver Origin (100 guests) is the plushest purpose-built ship in the archipelago — butlers, a 1:10 guide ratio, Ecuadorian fine dining. Wildlife access is effectively identical — the national park assigns every vessel fixed itineraries and licensed naturalists, and the animals are equally indifferent to everyone. You're choosing the vessel you return to at lunch, not the islands you see.
What the park controls (so brands can't)
Every ship sails a park-approved rotation of visitor sites; groups ashore are capped at 16 guests per licensed naturalist; wildlife distance rules are universal. No operator gets closer to the boobies. This is the great equalizer of the Galápagos — and why the honest comparison is comfort, guiding depth, and group size rather than 'access.'

When is the best time to visit the Galápagos?

Land-based or by ship?
